Take a walk from Goleen into the Diamond Rocks, completely uninhabited except for an abundance of wildlife. Visit ruins of Dunlickey Castle, St Kee’s Well and Bishop’s Island on the way.

For a taxing 14km walk, start at the lighthouse and traverse up the mouth of the Shannon, dissecting the peninsula at Horse Island and returning to the Loop via the Wild Atlantic Way.

Ramble along the coast of Kilcredaun, “sometimes an island when flooded”, and visit the Battery built by the English, tombs of nobility and the remains of the Okeanos that ran aground in 1947.
