Your guide for any of the Loop Head walks is Martin Haugh a local who is retired from the retail business since late 2018. It was always his passion to showcase the hidden gem that is the Loop Head peninsula hence Loop Head Walking Tours.
Martin knows the peninsula like the back of his hand and has the support and trust of all the landowners over who’s land he travers. He grew up near Baltard castle and went to Baltard national school and later spending the intermittent years in business in Kilkee, most of his customers are the same people whose land he now hikes over.
The history, stories, and folklore he picked up along the way.
Martin has been an enthusiastic walker for many years and is a member of West Clare walking club who in turn are affiliated to mountaineering Ireland. Through them he participated in a low land leader course which prepared him in setting up loop head walking tours .
He was also a keen scuba diver and was instrumental in founding Kilkee sub aqua club.
In addition he helped found Kilkee search and recovery which gave him a great insight into the hidden coves and inlets up and down the Loop Head peninsula, thus he knows the coastline very well with all its intrigue and mystery.
